MARK WENT TO COLLEGE AND GRADUATED

Like his brothers, Mark played sports and graduated from high school. He was told he would not have the opportunity to go to college because, "you have a disability."

In 2016, with the support of Down Syndrome of Louisville and scholarships from Ruby's Rainbow and National Down Syndrome Society, Mark earned a college degree.

MARK LIVES ON HIS OWN

My Approach

Advocacy

Each one of us is the sum of our experiences. The secret is discovering how those experiences interrelate, what we have learned and what we are capable of doing. Then it is just belief that we can do it!

Opportunity

Most people with disabilities just want the chance, the opportunity to rise above the stereotype that comes with Downs Syndrome or any other disability. They want to be looked at as any human being with gifts and barriers.

Impact

So many businesses today are begging to hire people yet so many people with disabilities have no opportunity to use their abilities in the work place. The impact of embracing this untapped workforce could be enormous if people in business would take the chance.

Results

The results that hiring people with disabilities are potentially huge in so many ways. Access to more workers, a workforce that is happy, loyal and thankful for the opportunity to work as well as family members being able to see their loved ones seeing their dreams come true.
